A Participative Webinar with Lauren Barthold
Lauren is a PhD Philosopher, who teaches philosophy at Emerson College. She is also a researcher and author of several books, including
her latest book (see image). She has worked with a number of dialogue processes including Reflective Structured Dialogue (Essential
Partners) and Intergroup Dialogue (Michigan State). At Healthmere, where she is a program developer, she engages marginalized youth in
dialogue and the arts.
She has studied how implicit bias negatively impacts our ability to engage civilly with each other across lines and how by placing dialogue before deliberation, it is possible to build the necessary relational bonds and shared understandings that can then lead to more effective political conversations.
