Sandra Janoff, PhD co-developed the principle-based methodology called Future Search: Getting the “whole system” focusing on the future and creating values-based action strategies. Future Search enables discovery of a shared picture based on the experience of all those present. Sandra has worked in more than 45 countries on complex economic and social issues. She has a deep commitment to creating conditions that enable people to move from fragmentation to wholeness.

Sandra’s work includes: UNICEF’s Finding a future for the Children of Southern Sudan during the North/South Sudanese civil war, resulting in demobilizing 2500 child soldiers; Preventing Child Abuse in Schools across Uganda to address violent acts against children; Creating a more welcoming Europe for people on the move with the Church of Sweden, Creating a strategic future for four State Departments of Corrections: Nebraska, Washington State, Massachusetts and Virginia. One evolution was addressing the issue of gangs in prison.

Sandra, Director of Future Search Network, is co-author of Future Search: An Action Guide to Finding Common Ground (Berrett-Koehler, 3rd ed, 2010), Don’t Just Do Something, Stand There! Ten Principles for Leading Meetings that Matter (Berrett-Koehler, 2007) and Lead More, Control Less (Berrett-Koehler, 2015).

Sandra was honored with the OD Network’s 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award. Sandra has a PhD in psychology. Her work with individuals, groups and large complex systems has always been aligned with David Bohm’s philosophy of reality as a seamless whole.
